Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using peripal ("the app", "the service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use peripal. We may update these Terms from time to time - continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
2. What peripal is
peripal is a perimenopause companion app that provides general health information, symptom tracking tools, a community forum, and AI-assisted search. peripal is for informational and personal tracking purposes only.
3. Medical disclaimer
peripal does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nothing in the app constitutes the practice of medicine or any other licensed healthcare profession. Content in peripal - including AI-generated responses from Ask Pal - is for general informational purposes only and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare provider. Always consult a licensed healthcare professional with questions about your health. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read in peripal.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use peripal. By using the app, you represent that you meet this requirement. If we discover that a user is under 18, we will delete their account and data.
5. Accounts
You may use peripal as a guest without creating an account. If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.
You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account and to keep it current. You may not create an account on behalf of another person without their consent.
6. User content
You retain ownership of content you submit to peripal, including forum posts and replies ("User Content").
By posting User Content, you grant peripal a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, distribute, and reproduce that content within the app for the purpose of operating the service. This license ends when you delete your content or account, except to the extent copies exist in routine backup systems (which are purged within 30 days).
You are solely responsible for your User Content. You represent that you have the right to post it and that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable law.
7. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:
- Post content that is abusive, harassing, defamatory, or discriminatory
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Post content that promotes self-harm or dangerous medical practices
- Spam, solicit, or advertise in the community forum
- Attempt to access other users' data or accounts
- Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from peripal
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
8. Monetization, advertising, and commercial partnerships
peripal is a free service operated by Stephanie von Franck. To sustain and grow the app, we reserve the right to generate revenue through any or all of the following:
Display advertising
We may display advertisements within the app from third-party advertising networks or direct advertisers. Ads may appear on any page of peripal.
Affiliate links
We may include affiliate links to products or services. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, peripal may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links will be disclosed with labels such as "Affiliate link" or "We may earn a commission."
Sponsored content and brand partnerships
We may publish sponsored articles, product features, or branded content in partnership with companies whose products or services are relevant to our community (e.g., supplements, wellness products, healthcare services, medical devices). All sponsored content will be clearly labeled as "Sponsored" or "Paid partnership."
Sponsored features and integrations
We may offer sponsored in-app features, tools, or integrations provided by commercial partners. These will be identified as partner offerings.
Newsletter and email sponsorships
If peripal operates a newsletter or email communications, these may contain sponsored sections or promotional messages from partners. These will be labeled as "Sponsor" or "Advertisement."
Premium features and subscriptions
We may introduce optional paid features, subscriptions, or tiers in the future. Core functionality will remain accessible to free users. Pricing and terms for any paid offering will be disclosed at the time of introduction.
What we will always do
- Clearly label all advertising, sponsored content, and affiliate links
- Only partner with companies whose offerings we consider relevant and appropriate for our audience
- Disclose material commercial relationships as required by FTC guidelines and applicable law
What we will never do
- Use your personal health tracking data (symptoms, logs, medications, cycle data) to select, target, or personalize advertising
- Sell your personal health data to advertisers, data brokers, or commercial partners
- Allow advertisers to access your individual health records
- Publish sponsored content that contradicts our medical disclaimer or promotes unsafe health practices

9. Intellectual property
The peripal name, logo, app design, and original content (excluding User Content) are owned by peripal and protected by applicable intellectual property law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from peripal's content without our written permission.
10. Third-party content and links
peripal may link to or display content from third parties, including affiliate partners, sponsors, and external websites. We do not control third-party content and are not responsible for its accuracy, legality, or any harm resulting from your interaction with it. Links to third-party sites do not imply endorsement.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
peripal is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. Your use of the service is at your sole risk.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, peripal and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages - including loss of data, health outcomes, loss of profits, or goodwill - arising from your use of or inability to use the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of peripal shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to use peripal in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless peripal and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the service, or your violation of these Terms.
14. Termination
You may stop using peripal and delete your account at any time from Settings.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in conduct that harms other users or peripal, or as required by law. We will provide notice where reasonably practicable unless the violation requires immediate action.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in New York, New York, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify registered users by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of peripal after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
